A little knowing them goes a long way

Which Bible would
they actually use?

For a teen, a college student or an adult child, the most useful clues are often in the Bible they already reach for.

The words they know

Ask which translation they use at church or school. Matching it is often more helpful than guessing.

Compare translations

Print they enjoy reading

Look at the numbered type size and real page samples. A larger cover does not always mean larger letters.

Understand size & print

A format for their day

Think desk, church bag or travel. A compact Bible saves space, with a smaller page to read.

Space for their thoughts

If they take notes, look for real margins. If they want study commentary, check that it is actually included.

See the journaling edition

Not sure? A simple “Which Bible do you like reading?” can make the gift more personal, even when the cover is a surprise.

The detail only you would choose

Their name.
A little of your heart.

A familiar name. Initials they use. A date or reference that means something to them, where the edition and design allow it.

Available fields and finishes vary by Bible. Open the product’s editor to check its options, text fit and preview. The NIV Women’s Journaling edition has a different name-focused layout from the thinline examples.

Original wording ideas

For the chapter ahead

Some gifts mark a day.
This one can go with them.

A birthday. Leaving home. Baptism. Or a quiet reminder that they are loved. Choose for who they are, in the season they are in.

A birthday worth remembering

Their name is a meaningful place to start.

Graduation or leaving home

Choose a format that fits the life they are stepping into.

Baptism or a faith milestone

Check their church’s translation and edition preferences.

An ordinary day, with love

Encouragement does not need a special date.

Giving it in a box?

Before you make it theirs

A few thoughtful
questions.

Ask the team
Which translation should I choose for a gift?
Start with the one they already use at church, school or in a study group. A familiar translation can be a thoughtful choice. If you are unsure, ask them or someone who reads with them. Our Translation Guide compares the options.
Is this also for adult sons and daughters?
Yes. A birthday, a move or an ordinary season of life can be a reason to give a personal Bible. Choose for their reading preferences rather than their age alone. For a younger reader, check their school or church’s edition and translation requirements.
Does a bigger Bible always have bigger print?
No. Physical size, type size and page layout are different. The compact KJV here has 10-point type; the standard NIV thinline has 11-point type. Look at that edition’s real page samples and measurements. A screen image does not show print at a calibrated physical size.
What is the difference between note-taking and study features?
A journaling or note-taking Bible offers writing space. A study Bible includes extra editorial material such as explanatory notes. “Study size” alone describes a format and does not promise study notes. Check the exact contents. The featured NIV Women’s Journaling edition has ruled margins and reflection prompts.
What can I put on their cover?
Available text fields, designs, finishes and space depend on the selected Bible. Open its product page and choose Customize Now or Customize Your Bible to see its current editor. Some editions offer a name field; others have additional text or design choices. Check spelling, placement and fit before adding to cart.
Can I add a gift box?
A gift box is an optional purchase. Look for the box option on your chosen product page or check the gift-box builder. Confirm the Bible’s compatibility and selected contents there; a box, card and accessories are not automatically included.
Where do I check production and delivery estimates?
Check the current product page and shipping policy before ordering. Production and carrier transit are separate, and estimated dates are not guarantees. For a date-sensitive gift, ask the team. Review the personalized-item terms: correctly personalized imprinted Bibles cannot be returned under the current policy.
What if I do not know which edition they use?
A quick photo of their current Bible’s title page can help identify its translation. Ask what they like about its print and size, too. If the gift is for baptism, school or a church milestone, check the required translation and books with that community before choosing.
