A place to start

How do you choose a personalized Spanish Bible?

First, confirm the translation and included books. Then compare the edition, dimensions, and print. Finally, check its actual personalization options. If it’s a gift, ask which version the recipient uses or prefers.

01 / Start with how you’ll use it

Your way of reading.
Your edition.

Compare Reina-Valera 1960 editions and an option in Nueva Traducción Viviente. Choose the translation you want to read first, then the format and study helps.

02 / The words and the format

Translation and edition are different choices.

Reina-Valera 1960 and Nueva Traducción Viviente are translations of the biblical text. Compact, devotional, and study editions can use the same translation while offering different reading experiences.

The store uses RVR, RVR60, and RVR1960 for its Reina-Valera 1960 editions. NTV is another Spanish translation; Tyndale describes its approach as clear, contemporary language.

Photos show personalization examples and are not to scale. The compact is described as “small print” by the store and “large print” in the publisher’s edition family: compare its 8.5-point size and a sample, rather than relying on the label alone.

04 / Look inside before choosing

Bible size and print size are separate decisions.

A compact can be convenient to carry with less room on each page. A standard format offers a larger page but takes up more space in your bag.

“Large print” depends on the edition. Check confirmed point sizes and open an actual interior sample. Your screen size and zoom do not show the exact physical scale.

05 / A meaningful detail

Make it personal.
Keep what matters.

A name can be enough. A date can mark a moment. A Scripture reference can accompany the reading when the model allows that text.

Enter accents and ñ exactly as they should appear. Confirm that the preview preserves them; if anything changes, ask before continuing with your order.

Before you choose

Questions worth asking.

Which Spanish Bibles are available?

At the October 13, 2026 review, the Reina-Valera 1960 collection offers the black compact, black large-print Bible, and Busy Mom’s Bible. The purple NTV is also available through a direct link in this guide. The thematic study Bible is sold out. Check current prices and availability on each product page.

How does a study Bible differ from a reference Bible?

A reference Bible provides tools for connecting passages and looking up terms, such as references and a concordance. A study Bible adds explanations or articles. The thematic study edition compared here includes more than 50 articles and 200 theological notes; those features should not be attributed to every edition.

Can I personalize it with a name containing accents or ñ?

An actual compact Bible photo shows López with an accent. We have not confirmed every character or font in the current editor, including ñ. Enter the name exactly as it should appear and check that the preview preserves every character. If you are unsure, contact Shepherd’s Shelf before ordering.

Which print size should I choose?

Choose print that feels comfortable in an authentic sample. The store lists the compact at 8.5 points and the devotional at 9 points. The standard black edition is listed as large print, but we do not assign an unconfirmed point size here. The “large print” label depends on the edition.

Does a compact Bible contain all the books?

A small cover alone does not tell you what is inside. The compact Reina-Valera 1960 shown here contains the Old and New Testaments. Other small publications may contain only the New Testament or selections. For a Catholic edition, also confirm the books required by the church.

Is this edition suitable as a Catholic gift?

We do not present these editions as certified Catholic Bibles. Before choosing a baptism, Confirmation, or First Communion gift, confirm the required translation, edition, and books with the recipient or their church. A Bible’s Spanish language does not establish its suitability for that use.

Can I add a date or Scripture reference?

It depends on the model. The compact’s description offers a name and optional date. The black large-print edition allows up to three lines and the devotional up to five, with a name, date, or reference. The thematic study description limits the name to one line. Check your chosen product’s fields and limits.

Where can I compare sizes and translations?

The Shepherd’s Shelf size and translation guides explore these decisions further. They are linked below. Product pages and personalization controls provide the final details for each edition.

Updated October 13, 2026. We compared current store listings and data with publisher sources where we could identify the edition. Measurements are attributed to the store; unconfirmed details are omitted or qualified.
