Your translation
Get to know the Douay-Rheims.
The Douay–Rheims Bible is a historic English translation of the Bible produced by English Catholic scholars at the English Colleges in Douai, France, and Rheims, France. The New Testament was first published in 1582 at Rheims, while the Old Testament followed in 1609–1610 at Douai. It was translated primarily from the Latin Vulgate, the official biblical text of the Catholic Church at the time, while also consulting Hebrew and Greek sources. Known for its formal, literal style and traditional language, the Douay–Rheims became the standard English Bible for Catholics for centuries and remains valued today for its faithfulness to the Vulgate and its historical significance.
